EVERYTHING “OLDE” IS NEW AGAIN:
The Northern California Renaissance Faire Returns to Casa de Fruta

(Hollister, CA, June 2008) --- From Hollywood to Hollister, the tradition of the Renaissance Faire is experiencing a revival, and this fall, everyone is invited to frolic at the original adult playground when the Northern California Renaissance Faire descends upon Casa de Fruta for six weekends. Starting September 6th and continuing through October 12th, 2008, this one of a kind event is hosted by Play Faire Productions, and introduces visitors to the romantic and exciting world between 1490 and 1630, immersing them in a living history that includes everything from live comedy and improv to dramatic performances and music.

Traditional Elizabethan fare and English ales are in abundance as swashbucklers engage in swordplay for the hands of pretty maidens, strolling minstrels regale the crowds with lilting sounds, and Queen Elizabeth herself parades through the masses, holding court and greeting visitors from all lands. Guests invoke the spirit of the period, discover their inner rogue or wench, and enjoy a variety of sights and activities; many even dare to step into the part with period attire from our local costume shop or test their coordination with an archery lesson or juggling act.

The Northern California Renaissance Faire is an incomparable way to experience the magic of the time period, whether it’s as an all encompassing history lesson or an adult playground. Interactive theme weekends are back by popular demand and include a Pirate Invasion, Celtic Weekend, and Bacchanalia & Masquerade, allowing everyone to stretch their imagination and find their place in Elizabethan England.

2008 marks the fifth year that Play Faire Productions will be hosting the Northern California Renaissance Faire, after taking management as a collective in 2004. The company is a self-appointed group of dedicated actors, artisans, and participants, many of whom have been participating in the event for over 35 years under various ownership and management. It is the only one of its kind to be managed by a group of its own performers and artists.

People from around the country flock to the Renaissance Faire to witness the passion with which these individuals have created their own imaginary town, striving to return the event to its original roots.  Tickets are now available online.
