The Harvest Festival Lends a Hand to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Sacramento Area

The BBBS expand community awareness at the Sacramento Harvest Festival

(San Francisco, CA, May 2008) – The Sacramento Harvest Festival is proud to lend a helping hand to an organization which helps others: The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento Area (BBBS).  America’s favorite artisans will once again come together for a weekend of entertainment, shopping and family fun at the Sacramento Expo Center, November 21-23, 2008.  Attendees will have the chance to support Big Brothers Big Sisters with the purchase of a Harvest Festival shopping bag—just one dollar—and once that is full drop it off at the charity’s parcel check and keep shopping.  You will be supporting one of the community’s most prestigious charities as you peruse the gourmet foods and more than 3,000 art and craft items handmade by the artist.

BBBS matches responsible adult mentors with young girls and boys 7-18 years of age who primarily come from single-parents homes and who seek additional adult role models in their lives.  Mentors provide the children safe, nurturing opportunities from which to grow, all the while focusing on teaching the children to respect others, have positive relationships with peers and family, avoid delinquency, succeed in school, and manage their feelings appropriately.  The Sacramento chapter has been serving children throughout the Sacramento, Yolo and Placer counties for over 45 years and has matched thousands of boys and girls with professionally supported one-on-one relationships with caring adults.

Through this partnership, the BBBS hopes to expand the community’s awareness of the benefits of mentoring and the opportunities waiting for children and volunteers to become involved.  BBBS of the Greater Sacramento Area will receive half of all the proceeds from the shopping bag sales, and all the proceeds collected from the Parcel Check. This is a wonderful way for shoppers to give back to this respected organization during the Holiday season. The BBBS of the Greater Sacramento Area will be manning a booth and handing out additional information at the Sacramento Harvest Festival, so stop by and see how you can lend a hand.

The Sacramento Harvest Festival is proud to support this renowned charity, while dazzling the masses with its mix of entertainment, gourmet food, and original arts and crafts from hundreds of America’s favorite artisans. The Harvest Festival was recently acquired by Western Exhibitors, a small, family-owned company that has produced gift and home furnishing trade shows on the West Coast for more than 65 years.  Under their new management, the Harvest Festival has returned to its roots by offering a variety of entertainment and good old family fun.  Designed to provide guests with the ability to purchase personalized gifts, the Harvest Festival is a delightful shopping experience for the whole family.
